Drakes Supermarkets is Australia’s largest independent grocery retailer. When they asked We’re Open to reimagine what the interior of their new Wayville Supermarket, they wanted to create an in-store environment that felt like it belonged to the Drakes brand and where customers would love to shop.

The graphic design studio based in Adelaide, South Australia, brought in a good friend of the studio, Jaquie Hagan, and got down to work to develop an interior and signage system that reflected the circular visual language and pop of yellow present in the Drakes logo.

Environmental Graphic Design is a multidisciplinary field that combines many design areas including architectural, interior, graphic, and industrial design. Together these disciplines enhance the user experience by representing visual concepts in the built environment. EGD can take the form of wayfinding and signage systems, installations, super graphics, and visualization of brand identity and communication on a physical space.
