CAE is undergoing expansion, developing multiple campuses within Melbourne’s CBD to cater for the increasing demand in adult education. In 2009, Fabio Ongarato Design developed the wayfinding system and environmental graphics for the new campus in CAE’s home of Finders Lane, Melbourne.

Collaborating with the architects, Gray Puksand; FOD developed a comprehensive visual language based on information pathways, connectivity and transformation to bring a new perspective to this CAE office and learning space. The design program explored the notion of transforming lives through learning; acknowledging the transformative nature of the organization and the significance of the Melbourne CBD as part of the CAE ‘campus’ context.

Fabio Ongarato Design set a design approach expressed through a signage and environmental graphics package that explores the notion that occupants should be treated as sophisticated and intelligent learners and not just students.

Environmental Graphic Design is a multidisciplinary field that combines many design areas including architectural, interior, graphic, and industrial design. Together these disciplines enhance the user experience by representing visual concepts in the built environment. EGD can take the form of wayfinding and signage systems, installations, super graphics, and visualization of brand identity and communication on a physical space.
