Following a major renovation, the Mosaic Rooms in London reopened with a refreshed visual identity by Pentagram that reflects the institution’s evolution from an independent gallery into a vibrant cultural and community space.
The identity is built around a custom MR monogram, designed to express movement, exchange, and the dialogue between cultures. A warm color palette, flexible graphic system, and expressive typography extend across both digital and physical touchpoints, creating a cohesive experience throughout the building.
One of the most successful aspects of the project is how the identity moves beyond branding and becomes part of the architecture itself. From signage to architectural interventions, the graphics help reinforce The Mosaic Rooms as a place for art, conversation, and community.
My favorite details of this project is the way the identity is integrated into the building’s façade. Rather than relying only on traditional signage, Pentagram introduced sculptural metal elements that incorporate the monogram directly into the architecture. Combined with vibrant colored panels that catch and reflect sunlight throughout the day, these interventions create subtle moments of movement and light, giving the building a distinctive presence while reinforcing the visual identity.
