Charles Sturt University
JSD is a design studio located in Sydney, Australia. They work with branding, environmental graphics, and wayfinding strategies, such as this project developed for the ‘Learning Commons’ building at Charles Sturt University.
The project was applied to the refurbished buildings at the Wagga and Bathurst campuses, and incorporated spaces like The Library, Student Central and 24SEVEN. The designers worked around the university’s branding system and introduced a modern, lighter and playful tone that could work within the existing interior colour palettes and applied to further campuses.
The different areas were defined with distinct colours and wayfinding icons to easily direct students, while larger and bolder typefaces were used throughout the signage to improve visibility and functionality.
For this project, the JSD Team collaborated with Mark Tatarinoff, who provided wayfinding design and strategic expertise.
